The Austin-based band, Single Frame, announces the release of its newest EP due out 22 January 08. The record, titled SFEP, was recorded in the Fall of 2007 by Alex Lyons (Calla, Built To Spill) and is reported by the band to be one of the most straight forward releases from Single Frame to date.
"We whittled away at it until there were just four tracks left, each we think of as single-worthy," stated Single Frame member, Adreon Henry.
The release of SFEP also marks the split of Single Frame from Volcom Entertainment. "We felt that it was time to return to a DIY mind-state, especially with iTunes, Napster, and the like allowing small labels and bands to sell albums and songs,” said band member, Jason Schleter. “This way we can be the immediate beneficiaries of album/song sales and can put the profits where they belong—back into the band.”
Richard Richards of Single Frame also commented on the new release, saying, "Even though this release is internet-only, we wanted to offer up something unique in the way of packaging, etc. to our closest friends and fans. So we've designed and screened a very limited edition of 50 CDs, which are available January 15th at www.slackelectric.com.”
The band believes 2008 will be a big year, with a spring tour and numerous releases slated. "We hope to release a new EP every four months or so," said Henry.
